già la fine di febbri

Me missing my Jeans!
hey all,

So this week we had some good and some interesting appointments, but the work is moving along. I have decided that i do not ever want to pursue a life of event planning or organizing, because it is too stressful to try and get everything to work out and run smoothly! If only there was some magic button to push that would just make members with cars and an always open schedule fall from the sky. :) (if you fit that description you should consider giving the missionaries a call!) The city is too large and investigators are too far apart and when a 10 minute car ride is not an option and instead a 2 hour bus, train and metro commute must be made, the days just seem so much shorter! and there never seems to be enough time! and then when perfectly planned out days are filled with the holes of cancled appointments or no shows all you can do is laugh and follow Elder Wirthlin’s advice of come what may and love it.

It never ceases to amaze me how the most open looking people can really be closed and the vice versa. We did some surveys at an open square in the center of town and as me and my companion approached a man he instantly put his hand up (as most expressive Europeans do) and said "no, no, no! I know who you are! you are Mormons aren't you! no I don't want to hear it!" I was fine with it, I mean we are searching for those who are prepared to accept and hear the saviours message so I politely said, alright, that is fine, thanks anyway have a nice day," and I extended my hand for a handshake. he then kept talking, demanding to know why are tags didn't identify us as Mormons! I explained that the name of our church was the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints and that Mormons was a nickname and he told us how missionaries used to come to his home in Austria when he was a child and that they stopped coming because his father was brainwashing them before they could brainwash him. Some how from that little beginning the conversation took off and he continued to talk to us and ask questions for an hour! He wasn't super open or interested to hear more, but I can guarantee that his view and perspective of the church was changed and maybe one day he will be just a little more willing to truly find out what the church is really about.

I still love being a missionary, even on the hard and frustrating days. I know that in the end these moments will work together for my good and give me experiences I could never have in any other way.

Have a great week!

Vi voglio bene!
