So the last day and a half has felt like a weird flash back to when my trainer finished her mission, only this time I am a little more acclimated to the area so I feel less out of it. I am once again apart of a 3 sum with the Rome 2 sisters only this time it is different sisters, same apartment. I am with Sorella Marangoni (from Italy) and Tramacchi (from Australia). Tomorrow I will get my new companion Sorella Bajarnason and head back to my area in Rome one. If any of you are followers of Sorella Hansen’s blog, Sorella Bajarnason has been her companion for the last 3 months or so. I don’t know a lot about her, she was one group ahead of me in the MTC so we saw each other there, but I am sure that she will be great. I have been really lucky to be blessed with so many good companions. I will fill you in a little bit more regarding my companion next week once we’ve spent some time together.
My Companion Sorella Barbiere was sad and happy to go, which I guess is the usual sentiment of departing missionaries. Yesterday we hauled her massive suitcase to the Villa (mission home), and I really do mean massive! She is traveling home by train so there is no weight limit and she didn’t want to have to pull two suitcases so she just got one really huge one and put everything in it. It was so heavy! No joke! We got some elders to help us drag it to the station and they were helping us get it onto the bus to go to the villa when the bus doors closed and it took off. I don’t think they were too upset, that bus takes you close to the Villa and the mission office where they receive all the mail. So they decided to make the most of their time while they were out there.
Something else exciting from this past week is that me and my companion got to travel to Pescara for the day so I could finish doing some finger printing for my permesso (the card that says I am ok to be in the country for a year and a half). It really is a big joke about these silly permesso things they take so long and so much work and then some of them don’t even last that long and you have to start the process over doing fingerprinting and filling out paper work. I think the funniest thing was an Elder in our district who went to pick up his permesso after doing all the work and waiting for it to be done and when he went and picked it up he it had already expired, the week before. Ha ha. So silly! Anyways while I was there I got to see my old companion sister Skabelund and talk with her and see my old apartment and my cute little town. I didn’t see any people cause we didn’t have much time there (it was a 4 hour train ride and then we took a bus back which was 3 hours) it was a long day.
We had a little get together in church on Friday and I met the member who translated the Italian hymn book from the English. We ate pasta and played games and just visited with some of our members and new converts. That same night I heard from Josy. Remember her from Livorno? Yeah I just love her a lot and miss her like crazy! Any way she told me she wants to be baptized, but she still hasn’t told her family about it and is worried about them and their response. I pray so much for her. I really think that she is so awesome. I feel so spoiled when I see the lack of youth in the church here and how hard it is for them especially when they don’t have the support of their family. The gospel and good friends who share the same values have always been there for me in my life!
Well I don’t have much time left. I love you all so much. I know that the lord really does have his hand in this work and that it is truly his.
