I am not staying in Pescara. I am a little sad to leave my "birth" city, and can I just tell you it is not fun leaving all the friends I have made these last four months! It is sad because I know that I may never see them again. But at the same time I am pretty excited because I am going to go to.... Florence!!! with sister Favero, who I have yet to meet. I leave tomorrow morning bright and early with all my luggage that I haven't yet packed. My companion, sorella skabelund is going to be sticking around pescara and training a new girl. I think she is pretty nervous, but I am sure she will do great.
So we have 2 more people to go see today that I have to say goodbye to. One is our friend Mary (the one who makes us all the good food!) and the other is Iolanda. I am way sad to say goodbye to Iolanda. I really felt close to her even with my limited language abilities. I know she will be baptized someday soon, her testimony is awesome, and I know it will be just as amazing whether or not I am her to witness it.
I don't remember how much I told you about our friend Mary. She is really great. She is Italian but grew up in Canada so speaks perfect English. She works during the week but on the weekends she runs an agriturismo (a place where people can go for like little dinner or lunch parties). She invited me and sister skabelund over to make food the other day and we planned on taking a train to the Silvy station, but unfortunately the schedule we read for the train was incorrect because it flew right past the silvy station without even stopping, oops! We ended up a few towns over, but mary was nice enough to come get us since the next train back to silvy was over an hour away. Today we are going to her house to eat together one last time before I leave. She is so sweet and like nearly all the people we ever teach, I have a good feeling about her.
We got invited to a members home for lunch last Sunday, which was an unexpected treat. We ate some good food and shared a spiritual thought then she got on facebook and started playing some weird pet world game that reminded me of one of those nano pets only with better graphics and on the computer. (mind you this member is like in her 40's to 50's) We took that as our cue to leave.
Every Tuesday we teach a free English class (I am attaching a picture of our English class below). The class is divided into 3 levels. Me and sister Skabelund teach intermediate and the other 4 Elders teach beginners and advanced. However they both called us an hour or so before class to let us know they wouldn't be there. We had to teach all 3 classes! I took the intermediate and advanced and sister skabelund went with the beginners. It was pretty fun. My class was pretty big so I taught them a tongue twister and then divided them into 2 groups, gave them a topic, and told them to practice speaking. Somewhere during that time some of them were asking me some questions about where I was from and I ended up passing my pictures around the class and talking about life in Utah. It is kinda fun to teach English class.
Well I dont really have anything else exciting to report. Next week you can look forward to hearing all about the new city and new companion, but for now all I have to say is I love you all and I love hearing from you! Take care and be happy and healthy!
