Alright, here I am, better late than never right? So yesterday Myldsmail decided to stop functioning and it didn’t start working again until 7:30 pm, but by then we were at FHE and were unable to get to an internet point. Anyways it is nearly 7:30 pm again but I am happy because we are using the computers in the mission office in the Rome 2 zone so we didn’t have to pay. Today was zone conference! I just love zone conference. It is strange coming back to this spot for zone conference because it is the same location of my first 3 zone conferences, which means that I got to see the Sorelle from Pescara!!!! It was so great to be able to chat with them about the members and investigators there! My old companion Sorella Skabelund is still there so she came prepared with a list to tell me about all of the people I would want to hear about. First and foremost, Iolanda!!! She is doing great! In fact from what sister skabelund tells me, she is just devouring the gospel library. She is now almost all the way through with her teachings of the prophet Joseph smith manual and D&C, and of course she still loves the Book of Mormon. Her family is slowly starting to take more interest in the gospel and I am so happy to hear good things about her!
It was my companions final zone conference and as tradition has it at every zone conference we hear the testimonies of the new missionaries and the dying missionaries so after seeing the bright smiles and excited testimonies of the new arrivals my companion along with 3 other Elders all got up to share their testimonies, with a much more somber appearance. It is a unique contrast and it is really a beautiful experience to hear these testimonies.
After zone conference we had a sisters conference with Sister Acerson and It was actually pretty fun, we got to eat cake and icecream with fruit on top, yum so good! And just have an hour or two to receive some training and have question answer time. After that was finished sister Acerson told me and my companion that we could use the office to do e-mail and so here I am. It has been a pretty good day.
I am trying to think of what to write about this week, I am just feeling kinda low on the exciting news level these days. I have been thinking a little bit about a talk that I really just love. We have some apartment CD’s with talks on them and I discovered this particular talk while I was in Pescara. It is called “Believing Christ”, and it is by Stephen E. Robinson. This talk is an amazing talk on the Atonement of Jesus Christ, and maybe that is why it has been on my mind lately, since a lot of the trainings we’ve been receiving have been focused on the atonement and how to utilize this gift as we go about doing missionary work. I am not going to go on and on about this talk cause I think you all should just read it for yourself, but I do just want to mention a quote from it that I really like, Brother Robinson is defining faith in Christ and he says, “Now, to have faith in Jesus Christ is not merely to believe that he is who he says he is, or to believe in Christ. Sometimes, to have faith in Christ is also to believe Christ.” Christ has the power and the ability to change any one of us and to help us become what we need to be and want to be. I would definitely recommend reading the whole talk.
I really don’t know what else to write so I think I will just tell you all how much I love to be a missionary. Really. I mean it has its definite ups and downs. Not every day is a dream come true, but this gospel is so important and I want to do all I can to share it with the world. My understanding has changed so much and I really feel like I would be missing out on an important part of my life if I wasn’t here. I know that God is here with me and that he is with all of us as we try our best to become what he knows we can be.
I love you all so much. Thank you for your constant support!
