Sunday a different investigator, Yvonne came to church for the first time! But so did about 50 tourist students from BYU Idaho. As we were getting to the church these students were filing out of a tour bus and into the chapel taking up every row so we ended up in the very back. I was feeling a little nervous and frustrated with the situation because it was very difficult to hear from the back and the other branch had their relief society meeting going on in the next room over and you could hear their talking and music through the dividing curtain. But it actually turned out to be a pretty positive experience for her and her two children ages 2 and 5. Sacrament meeting was a little long for the kids, but they LOVED primary and I really think Yvonne liked class. The gospel doctrines teacher was in the hospital giving birth so me and my companion gave an on the spot lesson and She took notes all through out the meetings! Because of all the tourists most everything was translated into English, which is good because our investigator speaks french, english and Italian but prefers English to Italian. The one meeting that was in only Italian (relief Society) was on gifts of the spirit and during the lesson Yvonne leaned over to me and said “I read about this in the bible yesterday night, in... Ephesians or... Corinthians.” right after she said that we opened up to the scripture in Corinthians and she said “yes, this is what I read yesterday.” How cool is that?! I really hope that things continue to go well with her and that they come back to church again next week. I know it is hard for her to travel with 2 kids and no car especially when she has to take 2 trains with a baby stroller, but she is so wonderful! Pray for her to keep progressing!!!
Next Sunday I have to give a talk in sacrament meeting, which is great since the tourist group is staying for like a month or so and they double the congregation. Sheesh! Oh well it is good for me. I just think it will be funny if I give a talk in broken Italian and then an Italian translates it back into broken English. :) I probably could just speak English and have them translate it into Italian instead, but it kinda defeats the purpose of writing a talk for the ward if it is in English. Oh well, I'll let you know how it goes.
We still are kinda running low in investigators, but I am trying hard not to get discouraged. I know that when we put our trust in the lord and try the best we can that is really all we can do, and all that matters.
We did surveys in the park for finding work yesterday and it is so interesting to me to see what others believe an how there are many people who have questions but are content with the idea that it is not important to know the answers or it doesn't really matter because all roads lead to Christ as long as you do good things in this life. I am so grateful for the gospel in my life. I know that this is the true church of God and I feel so spoiled to have been born with this gospel in my life. This gospel is the most important thing, pray for missionary opportunities and the lord will put them in in your path. I love you all so much, take care!!! You are always in my prayers!!
I am attaching a few pictures. the first is me infront of some awesome buildings that I dont remember the names of, and then a really cool picture of the view with the duomo in the background then a carousel at the piazza where we do district singing every sunday evening and the last one is me and my companion.
