Well I just came from Rome last week, but it looks like I am going back again tomorrow! It is my 3 month conference! yay! I get to go spend 2 days at the mission home having a conference with the 5 sisters and 3 elders (anziano Herrick and 2 Italians) who came into the mission with me 3 months ago. Can you believe I have been in Italy for over 3 months? I sure cant! And then next week we have zone conference, which means I will go to Rome again for the 3rd time in 3 weeks. Oh how I love that 3 hour bus ride. (that was only slightly sarcastic, it actually is quite nice to just sit sometimes).
This week we did some service for a friend of a friend. Her name is Mary and she is from all over, but speaks English because she grew up in Canada. She owns an agritorismo (spelling?) it is something like a farm restaurant thing, I actually have no Idea how to explain it. sorry. We did a lot of yard work and made it look all nice and ready for some guests who were coming this week. the elders planted olive trees and me and sister skabelund weeded a ton! but she made us the most amazing lunch and it was all worth it! the only downside of the days events was that during lunch they were passing around the plates and I guess they had put them by the stove to heat them up a little and one of the plates must have been touching the burner because it was boiling lava hot and so they were taking the plates and passing them down the line around the table and it turned into a literal game of hot potato because the first person grabbed the plate realized it was hot and hurried to pass it to the next person while yelling out in pain because it was more than a little hot! It all happened so fast and it took a minute to realize what was going on before the plate was set down. me and my companion had some pretty painful burns, but they blistered pretty quickly and so only hurt for a few hours. :) On the bright side me and sister skabelund hope to be able to start teaching Mary about our church.
We have some other investigators we are just starting to work with and I pray that all goes well with them! I love this gospel so so so much. I know it is true with all of my heart. It changes lives. I feel so spoiled to have had this knowledge my whole life. Remember every member is a missionary! Look for missionary opportunities! ( I had to put that plug in because I just listened to that amazing missionary talk “the missionary next door”, which you all should listen to! And it got me all fired up about missionary work!) Our testimonies are the best gift we have to give!
Hmmm.... I don’t know what else to say and I don’t have time to organize my thoughts. Sorry, but that is the life of a missionary. I love you all and I hope all is well, that you are all happy and healthy!
Ciao!
