Happy new year!!!
I hope you are all jealous that I get to see the new year 8 hours before you do. In fact I will be awake and studying at 8 am here in Italy by the time it is midnight in Utah. Ill wish you a happy new year as I am studying and you can think of me when you go to bed, I will be sitting at a desk, probably reading the scriptures, ha ha.
So this week has been pretty good. I feel like I have been here forever and at the same time like I just arrived today. I am understanding more everyday, but still not as much as I would like. I am always a little afraid of talking to people for fear I will not understand their response.
Lets see... so my first Christmas in Italy was pretty good. Me and my companion made breakfast for a family we are teaching. not allot of people eat breakfast over hear so they don't have syrup or anything good like that and they don't ever really have pancakes or waffles so we told them we were going to make them breakfast. when we got there my comp told them this is an American breakfast, and I could not help but laugh, because it was french toast, ha ha. yup pretty American. after breakfast we when to the church and watched Disney movies and made our phone calls home with the elders in our district. everyone brought candy to share and we ate some frozen pizzas for lunch.
The day after Christmas was my companions birthday. we went to a members house and at food and played games. This member speaks English, so that is kind of nice, ha ha. Her Husband is from England and I am not really sure where she is from, but they have lived in Utah before and now they are in Italy. Her husband isn't a member of the church, but he comes with her to church and he is very friendly to the missionaries. There was also another family there who are from England and not members, I guess they have been taught a few different lessons, but the mom doesn't really like to be preached to, I don't really know about them.
those are the big events of the week and other than that hmm... we've taught some lessons and done some finding work. It has been Freezing!!!! here. but when we are walking around it gets a little better. I cant wait for the warmer months to roll around, one because i would rather be hot then cold and two, because that is when the gelaterias open up and I really want to try some good gelato.
We found a really nice family that weve been teaching, we havent gotten too far into the lessons, but they are so so so nice. the father of the family is always telling us how we are welcome at his home any time and how we can eat his food and use his bathroom ha ha he is really nice. It is cool to know there are people like that out there. I hope that his family (his wife and daughter) will be receptive to our message.
so tomorrow for new years day we arent allowed out to do misisonary work so instead it is a day of cleaning. I guess they have 2 of them a year and we deep clean our apartments all day long, and if we finish early we can write letters and stuff. Me and my comp bought stuff to make pizza so that will be our celebration.
Hmm... other than that life is going good, I still cant believe I am here in Italy! It is such a crazy thought! If anyone has anything they are really interested to know about write me!!! I will try to respond! I am interested to know how everyone back home is. Mom and Aub keep me updated, but I know there are more of you out there with interesting lives to write me about... ha ha. Anyway I love you all and I hope your holidays were swell!
